Privacy Policy
Effective: September 12, 2026
This policy applies to the Help Me Korea app and website.
1. Data and purposes
Account and profile: email, authentication data, user ID, name/nickname, role, country/language and optional bio/photo support registration, sign-in and profiles. Service: selected areas and meeting places, requests/history, chat, posts, replies and reports support the service and abuse prevention. Notifications and diagnostics: push tokens, settings, device/app information, errors, crashes and masked error replays support alerts and troubleshooting. Server and external-service connections may process IP addresses and access data.
2. Location and optional permissions
We do not collect device GPS location. We use the area and meeting place you choose. Photos are processed when added to your profile; notifications follow device permissions and settings. Declining optional permissions does not prevent use of unrelated features.
3. Sharing and external services
Public profiles, posts and replies may be visible to others. Requests and selected places are shared as needed to provide help; messages are delivered to conversation participants. We use Supabase for authentication/photo storage, hosting services for servers, Expo and Firebase/Apple services for push, Sentry for diagnostics, and external map/place services.
4. Retention and deletion
Data is processed for as long as needed to provide the service. On an account-closure request, we block account use and promptly begin deleting authentication, email, profile, photos, push tokens and preferences. Remaining linked personal data—including requests, messages, posts, replies and reports—and backups are deleted within a maximum of 30 days of the request. This is not a blanket waiting period. Data awaiting deletion is not used for ordinary service operations; deletion requests are reapplied when restoring backups. Where a statutory duty or separate lawful dispute-handling basis applies, only minimum records are retained separately, with the grounds, data and period communicated. They are deleted promptly when that basis ends. Electronic data is deleted irrecoverably and paper shredded. Aggregates may remain only if individuals cannot be identified or linked back.
5. Your rights
Request account closure, access, correction, deletion, processing restriction or withdrawal of consent in app settings or by email. We request only minimum verification information. Do not send passwords or full identity-document copies. Any legal restriction or additional verification will be explained.
6. Safeguards and device storage
We use HTTPS/WSS and mask personal information before sending diagnostic events. Personal-data access is limited to necessary work. The website stores your language choice in your browser; remove it through browser settings. The app stores sign-in state and service preferences on your device.
7. Contact and changes
Operator and privacy contact: Kim Junghyeon (김정현) Email: junghyeonkim.dev@gmail.com Material changes will identify the changes and effective date, with separate consent where required.
